The Lagos State Government has bagged an award as the best
security and most safety conscious State in Africa, while the Rapid Response
Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command emerged as the best anti-crime
police squad in West Africa with the RRS Commander, ACP Olatunji Disu, emerging
as the most outstanding police operational officer in West Africa. The award
ceremony held in Johannesburg, South Africa and was put together by the
Security Watch Africa (SWA).

While receiving the award on behalf of the Lagos State
Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, the Secretary to the State Governor, Mr Tunji
Bello, thanked the organisers for recognising Lagos State, saying that it was
gratifying to note that the efforts of the government on security were
appreciated. On his part, the RRS Commander said that the awards to him and the
Squad will go a long way in motivating them to serve the people better.
