According to a civilian defense fighter, Abdulkadir Jabo, one of the bombers appeared no older than 7 while the other was about 8 years. Jabo claimed to have prevented the girls from going into the market as they could not speak Hausa or Kanuri and appeared very unsettled. According to him, the girls detonated seconds after they were turned back.
Recently, Terrorist group, Boko Haram, has used scores of women and girls in suicide bombings, prompting suspicions that some are among the many thousands they have kidnapped over the years. Recall on November 28, a woman suicide bomber carrying a baby on her back was shot by soldiers at a checkpoint and the shots detonated her explosives killing the woman and the baby. The most recent instance is the last Friday explosion in a market at Madagali by two women suicide bombers, killing 57 people and injuring 177 others including 120 children.
